Road Trip USA Sandy Smith and Alex Gross
In July 2008 Sandy Smith and Alex Gross set out on a three month tour of the American west, a collaborative project encompassing 3 solo exhibitions, one residency and 9000 miles of driving, drawing, recording and talking. The trip was designed to be a fast, flowing journey into optimism, failure, modernism, landscape and tourism, as well as a jovial examination of the artist’s role in relation to these grand ideals. The project was completed in December 2008 with a return exhibition at the Collective Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland.
